The transition to ultra-low sulfur heating oil in New Hampshire was more than just a win for the environment and energy spending—it was a win for New Hampshire oil companies! Many local oil dealers paved the way to make this transition a reality. With ULS as the new standard for heating oil in the state, heating companies continue to serve their customers with a quality fuel product that contributes to New Hampshire’s future.
Over the years, New Hampshire’s fuel companies have grown and adapted with the evolving energy industry. Making the choice to advocate for ultra-low sulfur heating oil was no different. Many oil dealers across the state actively participated in making ultra-low sulfur heating oil the new oil fuel option in our state.
In 2016, New Hampshire Senate Bill 309 was signed into law by Governor Maggie Hassan. The bill lowered the sulfur content of all home heating oil in the state from 4,000 ppm to 15 ppm. When this “Clean Heating Oil Act” passed, NH oil dealers were there to show their support.
In an article published by Oil and Energy in 2016, several active members of New Hampshire’s oil heat industry share their praise for the new bill :
said Kim Weiland, Area Manager for Dead River Company in Manchester. Weiland testified before the state legislature in support of SB 309.
said Bob Sculley, Executive Director of the Energy Marketers Association of New Hampshire (formerly the Oil Heat Council of New Hampshire), which represents the state’s home heating oil dealers.
New Hampshire oil dealers continue to provide prompt, reliable delivery to customers across the state with an environmentally friendly product that can help customers save money. Oil heat customers continue to enjoy the same convenience and safety of staying warm with oil, along with the many added benefits that ULS heating oil has to offer.
